This seminar discusses the various tablet platforms: device format/setup, security, connectivity and options, data storage applications, data sharing, note taking, useful accessories, and applications built into most devices sure to make any producer more productive and efficient while “in the field.” The presenters are bond producers who use their tablets in their day-to-day operations.

Matthew K. Cashion, Jr.

Secretary & Treasurer, The Cashion Company, Inc.

Mr. Cashion has been with The Cashion Company, Inc., since 1981. He holds degrees in economics, accounting, and business administration from Westminster College. He is active in various industry organizations and holds the Certified Insurance Counselor and Certified Risk Manager designations. He is also a member of the Consulting Constructors’ Council of America. In 2011 he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award for the Arkansas Chapter of AGC and he is the 2013 recipient of the prestigious Bruce T. Wallace Award for distinguished service to NASBP and the surety industry.

Mr. Cashion is past president of NASBP and, since 1988, has been on the faculty of the NASBP William J. Angell Surety School, demonstrating his tireless commitment to education in the surety industry. He currently serves on the NASBP Professional Development & Education Committee, the Finance Committee, and the Virtual Seminar Editorial Board.

Nick Newton

Newton Bonding, an AssuredPartners Agency

Nick is the president of Newton Bonding, which he founded in 2014 after 25 years in the surety industry. He began his career on the surety side, spending 7 years in marketing and field underwriting for 2 different sureties in Minnesota. After 7 years on the company side, Nick spent the next 15 years building his book of business at a couple of different agencies before forming Newton Bonding in 2014. In November 2020, Newton Bonding was purchased by AssuredPartners.

Nick currently serves on the NASBP Executive Committee. He is a past Regional Director and Director‐at‐Large and has Chaired the Automation & Technology, Ethics, and Membership Committees. He currently serves on the Automation, Commercial Surety, Finance, Membership, Professional Development, Government Affairs, and Small & Emerging Contractor Committees.

He is a past President of both the Minnesota Surety Association (1995‐1996) and the Minnesota Association for Guardianship & Conservatorship (2006‐2010), and is active in various contractor associations in Minnesota.
