Edward M. (“Butch”) Weed is a former surety underwriter and agent who attended several NASBP meetings and participated in Surety School in 1986.  Since 1991, when he became an attorney, his practice has regularly involved the defense of claims against agents and other professionals as well as litigation involving surety bonds, insurance, construction and environmental issues. He has spoken to and written articles for contractors, insurance professionals and attorneys on issues ranging from evidence to contract documents to general liability coverage. Mr. Weed is a member of the Defense Research Institute (DRI), the Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU), and the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). In 2005, he founded Martin Weed, LLC in Birmingham, Alabama.
